Reconciliation Action Plans

  • A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) provides a framework for action on how organisations can be inclusive in their work practices and contribute to national reconciliation.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have the same opportunities in Australia as non-Indigenous people, and that the quality of a person’s life is not determined by their racial background. Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

Developing a RAP involves a collaborative partnership with Reconciliation Australia. The RAP network comprises over 1,100 organisations that directly impact 3 million Australians at work every day.

A RAP is a strategic document to build respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and foster opportunities for supplier diversity, recruitment and cultural learning. The RAP framework is specifically designed for the workplace. A RAP helps businesses and organisations to embed the principles and purposes of reconciliation.

There are four types of RAPs – Reflect, Innovate, Stretch and Elevate. Each type of RAP has been designed to suit organisations at different stages of their reconciliation journey.

  • Through our commitment to reconciliation, TRACKS wants to ensure the continued place and importance of our First Nations people as the original custodians of this land.

Reconciliation provides TRACKS with the opportunity to celebrate the rich tapestry of languages, cultures and heritage that make up our First Nations people and have a proud place in our shared national identity. We want to capitalise on the enormous opportunities First Nations people bring to the workplace.

At TRACKS we believe every Australian has a right to a job and future. We acknowledge the complexities behind the causes and impacts of poverty. For us education, employment and economic success are key to closing the gap and improving the life circumstances of our First Nations people.

Through our RAP, TRACKS will commit to increasing our efforts to successfully engage with businesses who see the bottom-line benefits of leveraging the talents and skills of First Nations people through sustainable employment.

We start our reconciliation journey by acknowledging the immense importance of meaningful engagement with all Australians. We want to use our RAP to take a strong leadership role in joining with our staff, job candidates, stakeholders, and business clients in deepening our appreciation of the accumulated knowledge, connections and histories that make up the rich cultural fabric of our First Nations people.

We will use our RAP to better understand how workplaces can be configured, and recruitment services enhanced, to take full advantage of these cultural value systems in driving success at work for First Nations people.

TRACKS has not only developed our own RAP which you can read below, but we are very proud to be supporting other organsations to follow in our footsteps and create their own tailored RAPs.

TRACKS can evaluate, review and develop a Reconciliation Action Plan for your organisation that strengthens relationships, respect and opportunities for First Nations peoples and communities.
